Galerie Huit Arles

8 rue de la Calade
13200 Arles

« Unleash Your Herd's Potential » exhibition by Daniel Szalai

Opening Wednesday 5 July at 19:00

Like last year, we're on the first floor of the Galerie Huit Arles to present a photographer from the last edition of the festival. This year we are proud to present photographer Daniel Szalai with his work 'Unleash Your Herd's Potential'.

I started this project when I heard about the development of a facial recognition programme for cows. Against the backdrop of the extreme rationalisation of farming methods, the work shows how cattle are becoming animals 'deconstructed' by algorithms. With computer vision, artificial intelligence and robotics, today's automated dairy farm functions as a new form of panopticon in which animals are subjected to continuous digital surveillance.
