Galerie Huit Arles is delighted to welcome Camille Domange as part of the second edition of the OFF Festival du Dessin d’Arles.
A visual artist and lawyer, Camille Domange is a creator deeply engaged in reinterpreting the world around him.

His dual professional life allows him to move between law and art, offering a unique perspective on culture. Camille Domange works in Paris and lives in Arles, a place that nourishes his artistic practice and his reflection on the city and its evolution. For this exhibition, he draws inspiration from local history, archives, and everyday elements, reworking them into an œuvre that questions the way we perceive the world, as well as our relationship to time, memory, and space.

“Arles Autrement” offers a reinterpretation of the city of Arles and its surroundings through the transformation of photographic archives. By reworking archival photographs, I wanted to bring movement and colour to what once seemed frozen in time. This approach is shaped by the ideas of dream and utopia: what if the city were imagined differently, reinvented from another perspective? Each image thus becomes an open door to a constantly evolving world, where the past draws on imagination to engage in dialogue with the present.

The aim is to make the viewer active: no longer simply an observer, but a participant in a visual journey where history and imagination meet
Each work becomes a starting point for a personal dialogue between memory and reinvention, an invitation to lose oneself in the city of Arles, rediscovered through a new perspective.

Each element of the scenography is designed to deepen this sense of immersion. Between archival drawings and everyday objects integrated into the space, the exhibition allows the public to interact with the work and become an integral part of it.

About the Artist
Born in 1985 in Paris, Camille Domange lives in Arles and works in Paris, where he practises as a business lawyer in the fields of culture and digital technology. He grew up in an artistic environment, as his mother was a marquetry artist. This creative upbringing deeply shaped both his path and his artistic practice. His visual work is characterised by a subtle interplay of colour and material, in which each element finds its place within a reflection on the transformation of spaces and memory.
