The British Journal of Photography in collaboration with WePresent and
Galerie Huit Arles present the winners of the sixth edition of OpenWalls .
British Journal of Photography, in partnership with WePresent and Galerie Huit Arles, is proud to announce the winners of OpenWalls Spotlight 2026.
Now in its sixth edition, OpenWalls is an international photography award designed to elevate the work of emerging and established photographers by exhibiting it in the historic setting of Galerie Huit Arles, alongside Les Rencontres d’Arles – one of the world’s leading photography festivals.
This year’s theme is Homecoming, inviting photographers to explore what it means to return – to a place, a person, a memory, or a version of oneself. It speaks to reunion and reconnection, to the emotional and physical journeys that shape our sense of identity and belonging.
Homecoming is both a destination and a transformation, inviting work that examines how people, societies and ecosystems find their way back to themselves. The theme can be both intimate or expansive; a space for stories of resilience, restoration and rediscovery, capturing the threshold where past and present meet.

Weathering Time
Nancy Floyd
What started out as a simple question in 1982 became the impetus for Weathering Time: “What would it be like to photograph myself and watch myself grow older?” Most often I’m by myself in my images, but sometimes I’m with family and friends. As time passes, births, deaths, celebrations, and bad days happen. Pets come and go, fashions and hairstyles evolve, typewriters, analogue clocks, and telephones with cords disappear; film gives way to digital, and the computer replaces the darkroom. While Weathering Time chronicles my youth to the dawn of my old age, the images also reflect the experiences of my generation and underscore the cultural, technological, and physical changes that have occurred over the past forty-three years.
Weathering Time will be 50 years old in 2032. My self-portraits will evolve for as long as I’m able.
