At La Suite du Huit, with its unusual decor dedicated to Ovid’s Metamorphoses, two photographic worlds enter into dialogue as part of Photo Days:
those of Jean-Christophe Ballot and Camille Ropert. Each one seizes upon a foundational narrative—Mesopotamian or Greek—to reactivate it in the present and reveal its symbolic power.

With L’Épopée de Gilgamesh, Jean-Christophe Ballot immerses us in one of humanity’s oldest stories. A selection of works taken from the book published by Éditions Diane de Selliers accompanies the exhibition, breathing new life into Mesopotamian remains—sculptures, reliefs and fragments—that, through his gaze, become vibrant presences. His vision questions both the fragility of civilizations and the enduring nature of their traces.
In resonance, Camille Ropert presents Limnées, inspired by the freshwater nymphs of Greek mythology. Through cis, trans and non-binary bodies that re-enact these figures, she overturns an imaginary shaped by centuries of male representations. Balancing documentary and staged photography, her work interrogates the legacies of domination and opens the way to new forms of emancipation.

Brought together at La Suite du Huit, these two projects extend the mythological reflection by exploring the metamorphosis of stories and bodies, between memory, transmission and reinvention.
